Description Family Asparagaceae Originating from Mexico. The stunning spikes of fleshy-looking silver and yellow leaves bear one of the most outrageous flowers to be seen in Mediterranean-style planting schemes, emerging as huge, up 2m long spikes with fat artichoke-like tips, in a deep cerise pink colour. As the spike matures small side branches develop bearing abundant tubular pink, orange and green flowers. The slowly spreading clumps of rosettes may produce several spectacular flowers in one season. Easy to grow in free-draining soil in full sun, in southern, coastal and sheltered gardens. Foliage height and spread after 3 – 5 years 80cm x 80cm Flower spikes add another 1m or more to the height of the plant.
