Description A handy cotton purse made from assorted, recycled fabrics, each one is finished with traditional kantha stitching and a cotton tassel, however they are all unique! Lined in natural colour cotton with a pocket to keep cards or receipts seperate. The zip runs across the top and half way down one side for easy access. Made from assorted recycled fabrics by women in Bangladesh, usually using saris that have been cleaned, organised and upcycled. Each pouch bag is finished with strengthening kantha stitch – a traditional running stitch that is used in East India and Bangladesh. Community Crafts is a social development organisation and their primary aim is to improve the lives of destitute rural women in Saidpur, northern Bangladesh. They provide job opportunities and support so they can afford to send their children to school. Most of their products are almost exclusively made from three types of environmentally sustainable materials: jute, cotton & recycled fabric – usually sarees. They aim to adhere to fair trade principles by ensuring that we pay our producers a fair wage, protect the environment by using ecologically sound materials and are transparent and accountable to both our producers and buyers.
