The fruit is yellowish, about 7 cm long, fragrant and tastes like banana custard – consumed fresh, but is sometimes used in baking. American Paw Paw plant is native to North America and requires rich, moist soils in an open, sunny position. Frost resistant but drought tender. A deciduous tree growing to 6m x 4m. Fruit is ripe in autumn.
