Quintal Nendran – banana plant

$58.32 $71.73
Description   Quintal Nendran Banana (Musa paradisiaca) Common Name: Quintal Nendran Type: Fruit Plant Category: Banana Variety Origin: Kerala, India Plant Description Quintal Nendran is a high-yielding hybrid Nendran banana variety, popular for its large bunch size, long fruits, and rich taste. It’s known to produce heavier yields (up to 100 kg per plant) under good care — hence the name “Quintal”. The bananas have firm flesh, bright golden-yellow skin, and are excellent for cooking, chips, and ripening for desserts. Ideal for both home gardens and commercial farming. ️ Light Requirements Requires full sunlight for at least 6–8 hours daily. Avoid shaded areas for optimal fruit size and sweetness. Watering Water 2–3 times weekly, keeping soil consistently moist. Ensure good drainage to avoid root rot. During summer, use mulching to retain soil moisture. Soil Best grown in fertile, well-drained loamy soil rich in organic matter. Ideal soil pH: 6.0–7.5. Enrich soil with cow dung manure or compost before planting. Fertilizer Apply organic compost or manure monthly. For enhanced growth and yield, use: Basfoliar 19:19:19 SP – during vegetative growth. Basfoliar Fruit SP – at fruiting stage for better bunch size. Bascote or Miracle Mix fertilizer – as a slow-release nutrition option. Propagation Propagated through tissue-cultured plants or healthy suckers. Choose suckers with 3–4 mature leaves and strong root systems. Planting & Spacing Best planting season: monsoon or early spring. Spacing: 6–8 feet apart between plants. Use mulch (dry leaves or coconut husk) around the base to retain moisture. Pest & Disease Control Common issues: banana aphids, weevils, and leaf spot. Apply neem oil spray every 10–15 days to control pests naturally. Remove old and infected leaves regularly. Harvesting Harvest in 12–14 months after planting. Fruits are ready when edges become round and peel turns light green. Let bananas ripen naturally for best sweetness and color. Care Tips Support the pseudostem with stakes during fruiting to prevent bending. Remove side suckers regularly to promote strong main stem growth. Maintain moist soil and regular feeding for best yield.
